Grogu stew, glowing drinks, and a very dramatic summer at STAR WARS CAFE : Galactic Diner

A Star Wars cafe with glowing drinks and Death Star soda is coming to Tokyo and Osaka

A soda that slowly reveals Death Star plans inside the glass might be the most dramatic drink Tokyo and Osaka serve this summer. Japan’s themed cafés are already known for turning pop culture into full-blown visual experiences, but the upcoming STAR WARS CAFE : Galactic Diner pushes things even further with glowing drinks, Grogu stew, and menus inspired by both “The Mandalorian & Grogu” and “Rogue One.”

To celebrate the release of “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” the limited-time café opens in Osaka on May 28 and Tokyo on June 4, transforming the galaxy far, far away into a retro-style diner packed with themed food, collectible merch, and photo-ready desserts.

The menu swings between cute and dark side. There’s the <Grogu> CUTEST IN THE GALAXY Stew, the <Clan of Two> Berry Parfait, the <R2-D2> Droid Mini Parfait, and the <Mandalorian> Wareware no Michi Hamburger — named after the Mandalorian creed, “This is the Way.”

Then there’s the drink lineup. The <Luke Skywalker> Melon Soda brings the bright green nostalgia, while the cloudy <Ahsoka Tano> White Water leans into the character’s signature palette. The <Mandalorian> Pouch Drink comes filled with shimmering aurora powder that sparkles under the light.

The café also marks the 10th anniversary of “Rogue One” with Darth Vader Dark Side Curry and the Rogue One Stardust Soda, which slowly reveals a Death Star blueprint as syrup spreads through the glass. It feels very Japanese somehow — turning movie lore into dessert-level theatrics.

Limited-edition goods include acrylic keychains, stickers, clear pouches, mugs, and plates featuring original art from the event. Visitors who reserve in advance receive a random collectible pin badge, while guests ordering both food and drinks get a random coaster.

For Star Wars fans visiting Japan this summer, the café offers a glimpse into how Japanese pop-up culture transforms movie franchises into immersive food events. In a country where themed cafés already compete on spectacle, this one goes well beyond latte art — serving the dark side with dessert, and apparently a little Force, too.
