A rooftop beer garden returns to Yokohama just in time for Golden Week—offering an easy escape without leaving the city.
Taiyō no Hiroba (太陽の広場) BBQ GARDEN opens atop Sogo Yokohama from May 1 through August 31, 2026. As rising prices and fuel costs reshape holiday plans, the concept is simple: stay close, eat well, and keep it casual.
Set a short walk from Yokohama Station’s east exit, the rooftop venue makes its Golden Week comeback for the first time in three years. It’s built for everything from group dinners to a quick solo drink—what locals call a “choi-nomi,” or a casual one-person stop for a drink.
The menu leans into classic BBQ—beef, pork, and sausages—alongside seafood like skewered black tiger shrimp, abalone, and Hokkaido scallops. Every plan now includes all-you-can-eat edamame and fries. Drinks? More than 50 options, from draft beers like Kirin Ichiban Shibori and Heineken to highballs, sake, wine, cocktails, and soft drinks.
Pricing varies by pace and appetite. A standard all-you-can-drink BBQ plan runs ¥5,500 with no time limit, or ¥4,500 for 90 minutes. A new premium option adds seafood for ¥6,500. In May and June, a lighter “choi-nomi” set—three small dishes plus drinks for ¥3,000—offers a quicker way in.
There are 400 seats, with hours from 4pm to 10pm (last entry 8:30pm). Food orders end at 9pm; drinks at 9:30pm. Weather may interrupt plans. Birthday guests can bring in cakes purchased from the department store’s food hall.
In a season of rising costs, the luxury might just be staying put—and grilling anyway. 🍺
