A new reason to linger at a spot once treated as a quick stop
A scenic overlook in Okayama, Japan, that used to be a quick photo stop is getting a reason to linger.
KOTKA SETOUCHI(コトカ) opens on March 21, 2026, inside the Washuzan Visitor Center in Okayama’s Seto Inland Sea National Park. The name comes from the Finnish word for “eagle,” a nod to Mount Washuzan and its sweeping views of the Seto Ohashi Bridge and scattered islands.

This is a café stand built around the view—and how you experience it. Expect Japanese tea (a category that includes green teas known for layered aroma and umami) alongside carefully selected coffee, plus sweets and open sandwiches.
Tea is offered to highlight differences in fragrance, flavor and finish. Coffee leans gentle, with an original blend designed to sit quietly alongside the Setouchi scenery.

There’s also a sensory twist. The “Shinkokyu Series” pairs drinks with seasonal aromas, encouraging slower breathing and a softer pace. Another signature, “KUMO,” plays with cloud-like textures and gradients for a more visual sip.
Set against the Setouchi panorama, it’s less about ticking off a viewpoint and more about staying put for a while. Sometimes, the best view is the one you don’t rush past.
