A century-old ryotei anchors a quietly refined stay
You can drink beside a 300-year-old maple here—right up until sunset.
Kato Pleasure Group reopens Hakone Suishoen(箱根・翠松園) on April 9, 2026, following a renovation closure that began in September 2025.

At its center is Ryotei Momiji(料亭 紅葉), a registered cultural property built in 1925 (Taisho 14). The inn has just 23 rooms, arranged across four wings that wrap around the main building. Every room comes with its own private hot spring bath, fed directly from a natural source. Outside, the garden shifts with the seasons and becomes part of the stay.

The main building houses an open-air bath with a sauna and a spa by Sisley. At Ryotei Momiji, guests can choose between Japanese cuisine and teppanyaki, while the bar Ito keeps things low-lit and close.
Now in its 19th year, the property returns with a light touch. The architecture stays as is, but furniture and lighting have been updated throughout.

One new addition leans into the engawa—a traditional veranda-like space that sits between indoors and outdoors. From check-in to sunset, guests can drop in for drinks and traditional sweets, with that centuries-old maple just in front. The experience also extends indoors with Kaori Asobi(香り遊び), where guests blend their own preferred scents, alongside matcha tastings.
Some places change. This one just settles in.
